Gon. Here is everything advantageous to life.

The Tempest. Act ii. Sc. 1
At this point we have "seen" several different isolated sections of the island.
First is the main crash beach.
(All reference points are made standing on the beach looking inland)
Danielle's shelter is at least a day hike along the beach to the right of the crash beach, it could be 2 days, hard to say. Being along open ground/sand, this could be quite a distant.
When they went to triangulate the signal, Sayid, Sawyer and Kate headed
inland. Sawyer/Kate where somewhere right of the Sayid's location. This
was through jungle/forest terrain and they only went for a few hours.
Considering they had a 5 o'clock time sync they could not have traveled
more then 12 hours (assuming sunrise is not before 5 am) How many miles
can you cover in that kind of terrain? But considering it didn't take
Kate long to reach the caves from her location, and you could see the
bottle rocket launched from the beach, it couldn't have been that far.
The caves are a short distant inland from the beach.
When they shot the polar bear, they camped over night, so they could have
traveled farther. But this was up a "mountain".
Can't remember how long the hike to the pilot was. I assume this was more
in a valley however. From left to right, you would have Danielles' place,
Sawyer/Kate's place and then Sayid's location. Not sure where the caves
fit in. But Sayid's location seemed to be perpendicular to the beach.
When Sayid got knocked out. it appeared that the signal was very strong,
meaning he was very close to the source. Also, he said if the signal was
within the triangle, which Danielles' place clearly was not.
So, I speculate it was not Danielle that hit Sayid, she would have had
to travel to far. Also, the signal is not were Danielle is and is either
power by another source or there is one massive power source.
One thing that keeps coming up is "16 years". Remember, this
was a quick calculation done is Sayid's head. He could have been off by
a decimal and his calculation would be way off. Anyone able to recalculate
this?

They were working on the math numbers in a thread devoted entirely to
the calculations. It was a very scary place for me.
You should be able to find it fairly easily but the consensus was Sayid was right.

My consensus was that is was somewhere between 14 and 16 years. It would
somewhat vary since the time it took the itenerations to count off would
change everytime it increased by a digit. Like from 999 to 1000 or 10000.
