The Unbreakable Theory 3

I just searched the transcripts. First, Boone said Shannon was special in a lot of ways. Second, Jin was promoted to special assistant. Third, Locke's mom said he was special.

Walt is "different" and scary to his adopted dad, just like Claire's baby was scary to the psychic.

Hurley is happy-go-lucky.

There's no doubt that a subset, and maybe all of the main lostaways are "special."

Re: The Unbreakable Theory

Someone brought up how the woman who drowned in the water was breakable because she died.. However didnt you guys read about how the boat is supposed to get stuck in a whirlpool out in the ocean, maybe she got stuck in one of these, this would still make her breakable however just a thought

Re: The Unbreakable Theory

This is one of the theories that gets better with time.
"Unbreakable" might be an exaggeration of the powers of

the super-healing gene: no, it won't help you if you get sucked into a jet engine and spat out in teeny tiny pieces, or sucked under water for hours, but it will make your everyday ouchies heal more quickly, and give you a chance if, for example, you happen to fall off a cliff and have an airplane land on top of you. Who knows, maybe the marshal would have pulled through if they hadn't shot AND smothered him. (Hey! Maybe all the Lostaways are descended from Rasputin. ) As for Jack and Sayid not being "special," both of them (and Sawyer as well) have healed within days from pretty serious injuries.

If this is theory is true, my guess is that EVERYONE on the plane tested had at least one copy of this gene (with the possible exception of people who were accompanying carriers--ie. Sun OR Jin, Shannon OR Boone might be negative). Part of the test would then be to see who expressed the gene and how much. In other words, if the gene didn't kick in for you, you died

Re: The Unbreakable Theory

I find this theory particularly intriguing. But to take the speculation one step further, I was wondering if we could logically tie in x-men into this theory.

X-men obviously heavily influenced unbreakable, but thats not why i bring it up. The mutants are ostracized by the world they live in. People are scared of them because they are different, special, and powerful. Perhaps the survivors were deliberately banished to the island because of there specialness. This is a possible explanation as to why there was more then one 'unbreakable' person on the plane.

On a tangent LostinWilderness made an interesting and informative post (thanks) but i was unsure about one of the things they said:

Quote:
Walt is "different" and scary to his adopted dad. But i vaguely remember J.J. referring to Walt as special, before Walt's abilities were revealed. Am I remembering wrong(always a possibility?
