Claire Island Theory

Ok here's my thoughts. I think claire is originally from the island. Especially after last night we learned she is an orphan. I think somehow her mother escaped the island and raised her and the others left tracked her down and brought her back because they want her baby. I have not figured out why the baby is important but I'm thinking something along the lines of a different civilization that's been living on this island or possibly some govt experiment trying to create the perfect race. Whatever the case that baby she is carrying is def important somehow.

've read some people talking about the baby being the anti-christ or some sort of second coming but I don't think the writers want to get into that so I think it will be something a little more far fetched - possibly alien. Remember Scully and her baby. Was the psychic a plant to get her on that plane and did they (who ever the island people are) bring the plane down - I think yes somehow they did.

PS. Morbius after watching last night I have to give claire some credit - she is a cutie. No where near Kate but she's close!!

Re: Claire Island Theory

I am pretty sure Claire's mother is alive and that her father left them. Thomas mentions Claire's mother and I have the sense it is in the here and now, not the past.

Re: Claire Island Theory

GS - I'm stunned. Just when I think I've got you all figured out, you show an ability to change. Whoda thunk? And, you have posted a serious theory as well.

Wait a minute, did you forget to log off your computer last night? Who's using GS' computer? Stop it, you're scaring

Re: Claire Island Theory

I don't know about the alien part, but otherwise I like this theory MUCH better than this silly anti-christ nonsense.
The main isue I have about the psychic was this: he claimed to foresee something about the baby, saying it was in danger and that it "would never have a happy life without Claire." But then he put her on that plane, and we are to presume that he knew what was going to happen. The big problem I have here is that Claire would not have been on the plane if the psychic hadn't put her there. He manipulated her fate and that of her baby's. Why? Why would he want her to be on the island, which would, theoretically be the very reason the baby would be in danger!
But your theory makes more sense... if he was one of the "others" and recognized somehow who she was, he could have put her on the plane on purpose and someone sabotaged the plane to make sure that it would crash there, and that somehow she, and the other people in her section survived. Very interesting...

Re: Claire Island Theory

thank you cinderella. I'm leaning more toward the psychic new the baby would eventually be ok. Maybe whatever is on this island may spread to the rest of the world and somehow this baby is there to save it. The chosen one if you will.

Re: Claire Island Theory

we learned she is an orphan

We did? Didn't Claire or her friend mention whether they should tell Claire's mother when they were at the psychic's the first time?

Also, Claire mentions to Thomas that her mother will disown her, and he responds something alike: "she already has."
I got the impression this woman was very much alive, but estranged from her daughter for unknown to us reasons
