Full fathom five thy father lies;
Of his bones are coral made;
Those are pearls that were his eyes:
Nothing of him that doth fade
But doth suffer a sea-change
Into something rich and strange.
The Tempest. Act i. Sc. 2
The two theories i think im leaning towards right now....
Flying "monster" theory - that the creature is some sort of
flying...thing...that for some reason we cant see. I think we did see
it's legs in the Boone/Shannon episode though. For the record, im not
to thrilled with the idea of an invisible giant bird, but there you go.
Clone theory - Someone, something has cloned people from the plane crash.
Early on they said that they couldn't find a single hairbrush on the plane.
Sayid also said there is no way we should have survived that crash (unharmed
for the most part no less).
Perhaps Locke's paralysis was psychosomatic, the cloners might not have
known it.
The guy that was "killed" in the last episode by Ethan had his
neck broken, both arms, and all his fingers. Why would Ethan bother doing
all that? Sounds like injuries that may have been sustained during a plane
crash though. Perhaps "they" took the bodies that they cloned,
then replaced his body when they took the "Scott" clone back.
When Claire returned, she didn't remember anything after the crash. What
if she didn't die in the crash? Say they cloned her anyway. Then somehow
the real Claire escaped. They would want the clone back real bad, wouldn't
they? If the real one (who was found "pretty deep" in the jungle)
made it to the caves, she wouldn't know anything about any of these people
or what has happened.
Maybe Danielle (French woman) also escaped. Perhaps that is why Jack's
Dad's coffin was empty (they took the body).
This theory also has a lot of holes, but seems to answer a couple of the
questions. Again it's a bit too Sci-Fi for me, but who knows.

Wow the hairbrush is something I totally blew off. But hair = dna = cloning,
makes total sense! This is a pretty interesting theory, we'll see how
things turn out.

I agree. This has been something that is bugging me as well. The hair
brush thing. Little side comments that seem insignificant but might add
up to something because other things just don't add up.
The island as some kind of DNA testing ground has come up before.
What if the island was already special in some kind of way.
(noah's arc theory).
It can't be found because it is able to hide itself somehow.
(bermuda triangle/dimensional phasing/electromagnetic radiation).
Scientists came to the island to study it. But some kind of experiment
got out of hand.
(the monster, the disease, the island itself became self aware, a secondary
melevant entity was made on the island that the island is now trying to
combat).
(maybe the scientists made the monster to scare people away).
The island enhances human qualities, but everyone from the plane crash
died bar one or two. So some entity that inhabits the island (the scientists,
the sentience of the island, a being from another dimension) cloned them
for some kind of experiment or to eventually help it in some way.
Specific individuals were chosen with the right DNA potential or relevant
ID to aid whatever agenda they had set. Some have turned out to be duds
(the red shirts) while others have flowered.
Ever seen "DARK CITY". In that extra terestrials are experimenting
on the memories of humans in an artificial world to find out the nature
of the human soul. Maybe theres something in that.
I havent seen the last few episodes so I'm going on what people are saying,
but I like this idea of cloning.

Jays tao, just want to say that I'm really enjoying your posts. Welcome

Now, about the hairbrushes: I don't think cloning is involved. But I DO
think that DNA samples are being taken. My Unbreakable theory supposes
that most of the castaways may be genetically "special." Therefore
the others are sampling them to ascertain that.

All cloning threads I have to respond to.
I had found and posted an article (supposedly true) about some french
researchers that bought an island a number of years ago (15?) for the
sole pupose of creating clones. Their island is not under the domain of
any governments and rules and restrictions. Anyway, bottom line, they
claim to have secretly and successfully cloned humans and that right now
on the planet, there are several living children and teenagers who are
clones. Discreet, wealthy clients are the ones who have gone to this island
and paid for the clones. Until very recently the island and it's business
was active, but I think it was the United States that either bought it/forced
them out/ took it over, I can't remember. But it you want to read it more
specifically, go to a thread called:
CLONERS COME HERE where parts of the
article are posted.
By the way, I don't know that I'm sold on the clone idea, but I like to
talk about it because it's a scientific reality in current affairs, it's
provocotive, and for ethical and philisophical reasons we the masses SHOULD
be talking about it, even if it's simply to pinpoint the direction of
our own individual moral compass's . And I like the idea of talking about
it, in a pop culture forum, as opposed to a symposium or classroom.
Regarding LOST, I am very open to the possibility that there might be
parallel beings - whether it's a result of dreamtime, some scientific
multiple dimensional thing, split twin lab experiment, cloning, ... I'm
not decided. But the hairbrush thing does seem important.

PS. If you edit your Subject to include the word, Clone, you might get
more response. Also, in the discussion area, people for some odd reason
are more open to talking about it than in theories.
