Purgatory:

Not Quite Dead

coma theory w. twist n speculation

shaken, not stirred . . .

so, if the island is some kind of alternate universe/parallel/dream/hallucination/purgatory type thing, as each of the survivors gets "rescued" will they die because they are no longer on the island.

Boone, for example, dies pretty much immediately after being able to contact someone, presumably from the outside world, via a radio. The transmission is staticy, he can't hear it very well-- like when you're listening to something when you're half-asleep.

So what if the island is a mutual hallucination brought on by all the members who had traumatic injuries during the crash? They're unconscious, in the hospital, being treated, and as each survivor is saved in the real world, they die in the hallucination.

The hospital thing is purely speculation, mostly based around an Outer Limits episode where a bunch of people are in cryofreeze and have a mutual hallucination that they're in a cabin in the mountains. And I know someone's already posted a coma theory, but what if the survivors that go out on the raft 'die' too?

It could also explain why you see some characters a lot less some of the time-- maybe they're being wheeled around the hospital for tests or something, and the placed back in the coma ward. Ethan could have been an intruder in the coma ward-- maybe another patient who shared in their mass hallucination and then he 'dies', too, but he actually dies because he never makes contact with the outside world (at least as we see it).

That could mean Rose's husband is in another room of the hospital-- why she thinks he's alive, and maybe Danielle is a patient in another room near the coma unit.

Or, if they never crashed and are part of a gov't experiment and being kept in their comas, the 'monster' could be the doctor who comes by every once in a while to perform 'tests' on them. Tests that kill them. And Boone was 'let go' from the experiment because he wasn't responding to the coma-inducing drugs anymore.

Zora, this has been talked about a lot, and I mean a lot. I used to think there is no way they can carry that plot for four or more seasons, but after seeing how predictably and idiotically they handled Boone's death, hey, who knows. Maybe I gave them too much credit.

All I can say is that it will be very hard for them to make me believe, or to explain how people can have mutual/similar hallucinations that involve people they might not have even actually seen.

Elementary my friend Warth, they are all Special, including Vincent, and they can communicate thru telepathy.

Re: coma theory w. twist n speculation

i like this idea even though many do not - although i still feel that it maybe something just like this however they are also all Multi-personalities - that also explains why they would be in the same place and all have survived? Plus maybe the outside world is the Dr. and the survivors making contact or trying too end up Dying because just like in the Movie Identity maybe in the end there can be only one.

but thats just me rambling now it will probably be something much bigger then that.

Personally, though interesting, I think that your theory fits under that. All this stuff is really happening, its not fake.
